10×10 Drawing the City: Isle of Dogs, for Article 25
Article 25 is an architecture charity committed to providing shelter and housing to those most in need of this basic human right (Article 25 of the UN’s Universal Declaration). It has worked on 90 projects in 34 countries.
It’s premier fund-raising event is to exhibit and auction 100 paintings inspired by a location in London. An abstracted 10×10 grid is superimposed over a location: this year it was the Isle of Dogs, and I was fortunate enough to be given a square positioned on Greenwich Hill. From here, there is a fantastic panoramic view taking-in Queen’s House by Indigo Jones, the rest of the National Maritime Museum, and the modern offices of Canary Wharf in the background.
The painting will be exhibited at the RIBA and sold at the auction on Monday 18 November. Hopefully someone will like it, and all the money raised goes to Article 25.
